The Heritage Project’s Race, Intimacy and Expression in Dance discussion will delve into the intersectionality and overlapping identities of Black dancers and choreographers who are part of the LGBTQAI+ community. We will identify structural systems of oppression and examine how experiences of marginalization and social injustices have influenced iconic choreography, while exploring those who shattered societal norms.
This salon will also be presented online. If you cannot make the discussion in person, RSVP for the online salon here. This salon is part of Heritage Fest 2022. RSVP for Heritage Fest 2022 here.
The Heritage Project’s free artistic salon series was created to promote social equality and amplify Black voices. The salon series captures the spirit of a Harlem Renaissance salon where Black leaders, intellectuals, activists, artists, educators and business owners would come together to discuss matters impacting the Black community.
