Elizabeth Muto crowned Miss Black USA
Elizabeth Muto, Miss Black Nevada, was crowned Miss Black USA 2003 in Miami FL, Saturday August 23, 2003. Muto is a 2003 graduate of the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
Muto edged out 40 contestants to succeed Miss Lisa Miree as Miss Black USA. Monica Arnold, Miss Black Georgia, finished as runner-up, while Venus Manuel, Miss Black California, captured third. Miss Black Florida, Danitta Swain, finished as one of five semifinalists.
The Miss Black USA Pageant has been held annually since 1986. Ingrid Owens serves as Executive Director.
The Miss Black USA Organization’s mission is to identify, develop and promote national leadership within the African-American community among women 18-27 years of age. The winner of the Miss Black USA Pageant will receive the Miss Black USA title, a scholarship, diamond watch, clothing wardrobe, and a year supply of beauty products, management contract with celebrity Publicist, TRI, and other various prizes.
